Hi all! As said in my first post here i am new in the country so bear with me for some insurance related questions:
From all the insurance options out there, has someone actually got his/her money after a bike theft?
Which of the insurance companies would you recommend for:
    - road assistance
    - theft claim
    - crash damage claim
I ve read all the threads regarding insurance companies and i ll be honest with you, the one thing i got was that every year we have to negotiate for the same or slight worse deal than the last year!
In greece only one insurance company accepts theft insurance and my friends was laughing at me when i chose this package (extremely expensive comparing the others). But when my Fazer was stolen few years ago i managed to get all the money i had it insured for without any issues.
So, before getting a bike here, although i know how to take pre-caution with locks etc, i also know that thieves can always find a way....so i would like to know if there are some descent insurance options....
Thank you for your time fellow riders!

I would suggest going to a website such as go compare, bike insurer, MCN.
That way you can compare multiple companies in one go.
Some companies such as Carol Nash don't use those sites so may well be worth going to them and see what they quote.
As to theft cover that is usually part of it.
Levels of cover here are 3rd party only, fire, theft and 3rd party and fully comprehensive which includes all levels of cover.
Most of the insurance companies give you basic breakdown cover as part of it.
More comprehensive cover such as recovery, home start etc comes at an added premium and only covers you for that bike.
Might be worth looking at the AA, Green Flag or RAC if you have a car as well as a bike but make sure it covers you for driving any bike or car.
As to good and bad companies that is a subjective opinion and varies according to personal experience :D

Sorry forgot to add on locks don't declare them to the insurance company. If you forget to put them on they will double your excess.
As to locks look for sold secure or thatcham appoved

Thanks for the info Gary! I have already gone through the go compare website but i thought it would be nice to have some personal opinions - as subjective could be!
For the second post, so if i have a killer alarm (like spyball or scorpio) should i declare it to the insurance company?
I am trying to see if the place we live now can do sth better for motorcycle storage (like ground anchors) than the 'space' we just have now.

I would say no. I have the Triumph alarm on mine. Doesn't make any difference to my premium at all.
Thankfully when I take the key out it alarms straight off.
If adding security meaures made a differance to the premium I would declare everything but sadly it doesn't or at least that's my experience.
Try doing quotes with and without the alarm declared and see if it does get it cheaper for you.
In the past they used to give a 10% discount but very few if any seem to do that now.

    Hi mate
Insurance in this country is a bloody mine field and in my opinion the biggest ripoff we have to face as motorists/bikers
I challenge myself every year to get my premium down
Can't always do it mind you
    Good luck searching mate
As for recovery I use a company called RescueMyCar.com for about £20 a year
Have never had to use them yet but were recommended to me by a friend who crashed his Busa up in Scotland
Bike was badly damaged and couldn't be ridden
They recovered him and his bike home no problem
Their is an additional call out charge of about £40 if you use them but if you don't I think £20 a year is worth it for peace of mind

    Cheers for that mate
Have just put the app on my phone. Loads on there including many companies I've used
Gonna be interesting to see what I can get back on things
My household list is the same as yours except I don't have etc etc! I can't afford them!

Wow! I had no idea such thing exists.
I will definitely check it out.
So, as far as i understand all insurance companies will try to avoid paying (as always and as everywhere...) and we have to always look after ourselves.
So, major question: does anyone had his/her bike stolen and got money from the insurance company back???

Thats good to know. I didn't assume UK insurance don't pay at all, but what i understood was that they ll try to find a way to avoid paying. Which is sth common in every insurance company in every country as far as i know.
I do like how much more well organised is everything over here to be honest. I was shocked initially by the insurance price for the car i got (960gbp for a 2007 peugeot 207 1.6hdi, with 4 years no claims transferred from my previous insurance company) but it make sense as i was extremely new in the country.
I am determined to find as much as possible before getting into the motorbike world over here, that is why i ask so eager about personal experiences from insurance companies.
@Dozers Dad , of course i will not hide anything from the insurance company, i never did. The issue will be when (and if) sth bad happens, i, from my side am truthful but the insurance company try to find excuses for not paying out.
