Currently got both mine on a single MCE policy, certainly not similar machine's so that's a myth. Can't exactly remmber how much but was cheaper than seperate.

Due end of this month, so I'll let you know.

 

With Hastings Direct, 2015 Explorer and 2014 Thruxton £157., none of the add ons they want to flog you.

I got my Thruxton 12 and my car insured with Carol Nash on their '6 Wheels policy', which is your bike plus your car, it seems a good price to me......but I am 61!

Spoke to Nash's yesterday and told them about the immenent arrival of my Bobber. Firstly they said 'what's a Bobber?'!......

The dealer had said they, plus a lot of other insurance companies, would say that since it's such a new model that it has not been recognised and accepted onto their list of bikes. He gave me a bit of paper with a long numerical/alphabetic reference on it, he said quote them this ABI number.......'what's an ABI number?' I asked....apparently every new vehicle launched onto the market is issued an ABI number and with that number insurance companies can look it up on their computer and they will get the relevant download (no idea where from) which explains the full details (read risk) on this new machine. They promised to call me back with an update, still waiting for a call back from them 24hrs later!

BUT the guy on the phone did say that it would be possible to add another bike to my existing 6 Wheel Policy. I said it would then be an 8 wheel policy!......he said no problems....you can have an 8, 10, 12 etc policy......they will just keep adding bikes on.

Sorry for such a long winded post but maybe this could be an option to consider.....but you must insure your car plus at least one bike to get this policy.

I got a multi bike insurance for my Thruxton R and BMW R1200RS through Bennets. The good thing with them is that there a lot of extras etc that do not need to be declared.

 

Rang up and renewed mine with MCE. 30 bloody minutes on the phone, for a feckin policy renewal and £30 increase over last year.
By the time I actually got a quote I couldn't be arsed saying no and start ringing around.
Plus sun was out, and insurance ran out day before, so my own fault.

 

I have dual bike with Bikesure for my T'bird LT and Street Twin.

I'm with Hastings, but they only do a two bike policy with a max combined price for the two bikes.
I really could do with finding a company that will insure three or for bikes

 

Insurance prices vary tremendously from one to another, and they all love it when you can't directly compare whether it's a good deal or not. So if you are worried about VFM (value for money) then keep it simple, single bike/car/house etc, then you can easily compare.

If on the other hand you want minimum hassle and don't care if they charge a premium, bundle away ...

 

I've got 4 separate bike insurances at the moment because it's way under half the cost of multibike polices, they sound a good idea but just another way to rob you

 

Wow that's great. When I got my multi bike for my two bikes last year it worked out cheaper to get them together, so I think it just depends on who the insurer is. My insurance is up in June so I will let you know how the prices go this year.

How do you guys keep it cheaper with two separate policies if you are only allowed to use your NCB on one policy at the time?
The policy quote without NCB must go through the roof .. no?

 

Motorcycle insurance is a lottery you phone the same company the next day and you get a different quote, sometimes hundreds of pounds different

 

Yep I agree with that, it really is a lottery.

No claim don't make that much difference I tried it using a comparison website ie my 2006 MT 01 fully comp with 16 years no claims £85, put in 4 years no claims £89, put in 0 no claims £101

 

Interesting. It definitely does affect my quote instead. I wonder why.
