Hi everyone, Just spent my pension on a new Street Twin, thought what the heck, I can eat next year! So I thought I would say hello. Dan
Hi Dan, that was responsible ! Welcome in and safe miles ! The guys are going to ask - pictures please
Hi Dan I'm a newbie myself and already found this place to be very friendly. Although not my pension, my savings are going on a new Triumph very soon Best wishes and hello. Andy
Hi all, thanks for the warm welcome. I am going to try to upload some piccies of my bikes as soon as I work out how to do it
These are my pride and joy 1. Brand new Street Twin with Triumph accessories, 2 1969 BSA Lightning, 3 1956 Ariel VB600 side-valve built from a box of rusty bits. I think I like the Street Twin best... In case of any uncertainty, I have had the older bikes a while, but the Ariel took me four years to build so I have some time invested in that one. The Beezer belonged to a friend of a friend who sadly died, so there is a connection to that one as well.
Thanks, the two oldies aint perfect but then neither am I Lol. Still they run, and the Beezer is actually a nice ride. The Ariel is very, er, whats the word 'antique' shall we say?. No go and absolutely no stop, but surprisingly handles very well at the sort of speeds it can go. My main pleasure with the Ariel is I did everything to it myself, including re-building the engine, splitting the crank and re-building the gearbox, and I had to cut the back of the petrol tank off, and make and weld on a new rear end. Thats why it too so long but it was fun. If I had more garage space I would do another one, oh and if I ever get to actually retire, I may be a pensioner but still doing full time hours...
Welcome PD to the madhouse, which planet is Prenton on? I live on Zog..converting a 75 Bonnie to Cafe Racer. I'll figure out how to kick it off later. Being errr mature, I'm not for runnin' down street and jumping on any more It's awkward with turned over wellies and fisherman's socks, and yes I did.
Welcome to the forum Dan. Nice collection of bikes you've got there. The new Bonnevilles are great, enjoy your investment, pensions are boring!
Welcome in Dan. Just remember, food is for WIMPS!!! (So says the fat lad who peaked at 19 stones but has now managed to get shut of two of them!! Look ... I like being a wimp!).
Hey Dan good to see that you got the absolute best colour in your ST. I'm so please you like it the best; it does ride really well and looks good as well. Only one suggestion for you to consider, it looks so much better with the triumph tank pads fitted. Just my humble opinion. Wessa
Hi, not keen on sticking stuff onto the paintwork. Not to say I dont do alterations, the bike has only done 600 miles since collection but I have already changed the front and rear suspension set up. Hagons on the back and Tec springs and adjusters on the front. Makes a heck of a difference to the ride, specially two up.
You don't hang around, do you Dan ? Had the new bike 5 mins and already swapped the suspenders - it's going to be interesting what you do next? I like your collection as well - certainly sounds like you know what you're doing round a bike. Welcome to the Triumph Asylum - you're gonna fit right in
Essential suspension upgrade in my eyes Dan, I endured the OEM suspension on my Bonnie for 6 months. I am undecided on the tank knee pads as yet, but I do think they look good. I fitted a Scottoiler which is great, and also fork gaiters which I think your bike will already have. A centre stand is also a good thing to have, I found it unbelievable after 30 years absence from biking that they are not supplied as standard kit.
