Interesting Cap' just a random thort but you have told the ol' insurance? Apologies if yer covered this in earlier posts, and does the ol' driving licence change?

 

Not saying the brakes on the new Speed are good but this is what happens when a bug tries to pass you when you're on the brakes

 

Hi DD, Personally I wouldn't dream of towing a trailer on my bike, it would take all the fun out of biking for me.

 

After contacting Chris Jones I viewed Delboys garage and then fitted a rectifier re-location bracket to my Newchurch.
Looks so much better, but the wiring loom from the rectifier to the block connector in the headlight seems a bit tight on full right hand lock, I'm a bit concerned about this and will see how things go.
Anybody fitted one and having similar concerns?

Hi guy's been on holiday in Portugal for the past week, so a bit behind the curve. Glad to be home and hoping to get out on my bike tomorrow; weather permitting. It was in the mid 20's all week, oh how I wished I could have had my bike with me. Wall to wall sunshine and some great roads!

Freedom of the solo bike for me, I'd never have a sidecar fitted either.
Tried once when I bought my first Dominator which had one fitted, never again!

Yes, and No !
Yes told the insurance! No the licence doesn't change ! Although I hold a Heavy rigid truck with up to 9 ton trailer towing licence, Been a Driver for 30 plus years. My insurance wasn't affected either ! Only costs me $30 odd per year to insure my trailers (each) as I have two, one is the light weight fibre glass lidded job in this post and the other is my canvas pop up camper (weighs 115kg).

 

The solo bike is Exactly why I "TOW" my bike handle's better towing ! Than it would stacked with camping gear ! I would know as in 35 yes of riding I have done it all, I've got the infringement notices to prove it. When I get to my destination it takes two moments to unload ! I then have two wheels to explore on, I find when riding and towing it's less tiring than riding with 30 or 40 kgs stacked on top of the bike, find someone who tows borrow their bike try it and see for yourself. It's not for everybody but it's catching on hear in OZ !

You obviously don't take much with you on your ride's, I can, if a weather change even looks possible I can carry a change of riding gear ! Hot Cold Wet or ??? I've got the gear and can carry it no "Fun" spoiled by being "Uncomfortable" I ride in all Weather's take SWMBO too !we enjoy our Biking too the Max !!

If it works for you and the missus Capt that's great.
It was just my personal take on it having just returned to the freedom of biking after 30 years.
I used to go camping with my bike and yes it is restrictive what can be carried even when I had a BMW fully kitted out for touring.
Not my thing now at 60, mainly down to my wife not liking bikes or camping anymore, but I will never say never!
People get soft and spoiled over the years, so good on yer mate!

 

I'm 55 and the wife is older so don't bring age into it...
I've been on ride's here 80+ wasn't unusual.
And the bike's were older !

Thanks fer reply Cap, amazed about insurance, over here there can be a sucking of air when saddlebags are mentioned, something about weight shifting etc on corners..

The only reason I mentioned age was that we have got used over the years to 'comfier' holidays in nice hotels, hence the soft and spoiled comment.
I personally could enjoy camping but my missus would not entertain it.
Each to their own.

 

Same here, now we're older and have more disposal income, the nearest we get to camping is a holiday site mobile home somewhere in France

 

Difference of opinions Havit, that's all it is.
Somebody will hopefully renovate it one day to its former glory.
