Really nice gesture Bogg Good on ya mate Actually while I'm on this fantastic forum I was in the garage earlier to check my tyre pressures Guess what? That's right both my tyres are missing! I need sizes front 110/80v18 Avon roadrider Rear 170/80b15 Avon cobra I can send my address to anyone who might have these lying about no problem Ooo the anticipation!!
Well following that line of thinking - just been down to the garage and my 2017 Thruxton R has gone missing, anyone got a spare they're not using ????????????
Well, that's a bit of a bugger!! Could explain your problem though. Did you notice that as soon as the problem appeared to be solved, acute silliness and looniness (looniness??) took over as the relief set in?
Thanks for the offer bogg, this morning found the jet under the float, put all back together and now will not start at all, like no fuel, cracked the drain and there is fuel, im lead to believe when on prime i should have fuel flow with all pipes off petcock i have nothing comming out at all, this vacum system seems to be a major prob is there anyway to do away with it and gravity fed
Hi mate When on prime position this is gravity fed The vacuum position is to stop the carbs from flooding if the bike is laid up for any length of time and operates the fuel supply when the engine is running It sounds to me that you have a blockage at the petcock There's a fine gauze filter on the petcock inside the tank Very rare but another cause could be a blocked breather on the fuel cap Try running it with the cap off Be careful mate Good luck
i have half tank fuel, tank off the bike across a chair on prime and no fuel comming out at all same as on and res, and i tipped tank up down side ways during this, going to get new vac pipes 1/8 id fuel lines 5/16 while im at it. Grrrrr i wanna play on it
With the tap in the 'prime' position, push it in towards the tank. This should then allow the petrol to flow and is the only way (allegedly) to get fuel to get through the tap - I guess that pushing the tap in to get fuel through is to prevent possible flooding if the tap is inadvertently left in 'prime'. 'Tis the only way mine will work.
If you can tip the tank so the petcock is out of the fuel level you can remove it and clean the filter and clean the fuel petcock When refitted position the tank so fuel is over the petcock again On prime fuel should run freely On run and res you can get a bit of suitable pipe and suck on it where the vacuum pipe goes Again fuel should run freely Be careful No smoking Stick with it mate you'll get there It's all a learning curve
This has gotta be the best forum ive been on for great help and idea's and no sarcasm, bit late now will do suggested 2moro, as definatley no fuel comming out pushed in on prime
Bugger! As my doctor once said to me .... "You're screwed". I'm still here though!! (Summat about being a lorry driver living on full English breakfasts and sandwiches etc., if I remember correctly.)
Just a quick update, think ive found the problem, when my tank is bolted into place the vacuum pipe butts up against the frame which cuts off the vacuum, so can i cut back the actual cast alloy tap pipe a bit to give me a bit more room when tank is put where it should be, as i have it now the tank is about half inch to the left which throws the panels off a bit, ive tried every way to feed the pipe but every time it butts against the frame. any thoughts on doing that or is there a different petcock i can get to do away with standard one.
