Management light on speedmaster 2011

Hi Paul, there is a free-to-download program called TuneECU which will allow you to talk to the bike's ECU. You'll need to buy an OBD cable to physically connect to the bike - about £15.

 

Hi Paul, thebiglad is right, and it's much easier than you might think.

Google Tune ECU and their page will explain all, the program is free as are the additional maps for new exhausts etc. You will need a laptop running at least windows 8 (from memory) or an android device, I think the laptop is easier.

I have a speedmaster myself and after messing with various lights and indicators which involved cutting and soldering parts of the wiring loom i ended up with the management light on
This was probably because I was switching the ignition on and off while I tested things and the loom was not fully connected
I borrowed a OBD reader from a mate and selected clear codes
Job done

 

The mil light is only activated by the ecu sensing one of the few electronic components failure ! The possible items (and its not complete I don't know them all !) Airflow sensor, vacuum sensor,oxygen sensors (located in exhaust headers) throttle position sensor (usually located left side injector/throttle body) and voltage sensing internally in ecu, and a barometric sensor ( used for adjusting mapping for elevation changes).

If you have windows 10 it will be installed automatically. For other operating systems - switch off/disconnect internet access and plug cable in with the disc in !
