Like a few others on here being a cantankerous grumpy old git ? Oh yeah, and never giving way to drivers of German cars ! Sorry Winglad, I'll explain why in July, I'm in no way anti German.
Playing in bands. For those in the Nottingham area, with the 'Guffrits' every Tuesday at the Navigation Inn and every couple of months at the Lincolnshire Poacher with the 'Poacher All Stars'. For those in the Staffordshire area, and at a festival near you over the summer, 'Elvis Fontenot (and the Sugar Bees)'. Thanks for the shameless plug
That's an interesting hobby, Andy... You made me curious for an explanation Might be a Schuhmacher-thing...!? Oh, I did not post here yet: Synthesizers and music in general (guitar, sax (yeah Gloria, not sex)). All things, that make nice noise And if you tell no one that I posted it here: cars.
Only 70?? My mucker will be racing on the IOM again this year in the pre-TT Classic, Southern 100 and he is 71. Repeat after me -"We are all just big kids with wrinkles". Words to live by as we all have a, "Best if used by date" that we are blessedly unaware of.
Its mountain biking and walking for me.off to the alps in july for a weeks mountain biking and cant wait
It's cooking for me. Done some nice courses over the years led by experienced chefs. I've done Asian, Mexican and Italian that I can remember, each one a ten week course. Learned a lot off a french chef who ran two of the courses, he had his own restaurant in Coutance, France and has worked in Scotland and London before going into teaching. I've done a lot of volunteer catering for the scout association for about twenty years on leader training courses and also on cub scout camps as I was a cub leader for many years. Akela in fact. So, I always do the cooking at home and the shopping.
I only got into motorbikes a couple of years ago but very much enjoyed taking my little 125cc Suzuki apart and putting it back together, cleaning bits, replacing bits, re-spraying it and doing all sorts of little mods. It became an interest/hobby I never thought I would have. Having only passed my DAS less than a month ago and already riding my lovely new (to me) Thruxton I'm looking forward to spending as much time as possible really playing with the new bike! Especially as the weather has taken a turn for the better recently. Away from motorbikes, well actually it's not away from it but the guys I did my DAS with are related to another guy whose become my mechanic and we've also become sort of friends over the past couple of years. They've invited me to go to Brands Hatch with them all at the end of the month as they all break out their racing bikes. I won't be racing of course, but it'd be great to spend a few hours there being up close and personal with it all. I think a few of them take it quite seriously and compete in various championships around the country. I could see this being something else I get into. So actually away from motorbikes I'm quite into DIY at the moment. Might sound sad but we only bought our house a couple of years ago and again I've found a hobby in doing bits and bobs around the home rather than pay someone else to do it. I quite like gardening as well now, never had a garden before so it's all new to me! I run my own business designing and printing kids clothing, so I actually spend a lot of time doing that. It started as a bit of a hobby but turned into something more. I like being creative though so at times it still feels like a hobby. I love watching football, actually I enjoy most sports to be honest but football, cricket and rugby are the main ones. Training (I lift weights when I'm not injured). Music, I come from a fairly musical family, my dad used to build guitars for a living and toured as a tech with a lot of bands over the years, so I've picked up interests through him really, although I never learnt to play properly. I like the odd beer, nothing like I used to but with an 18 month old to look after beer time is seriously reduced these days ...
New hobby, going grass autotesting. Local firm have sponsored my kids to build two of these, their paying for everything and we're doing the preparations, except the spraying. Cars stripped out, bucket seats and six point harness fitted, all out of date rally stuff given to us. First event in 3 weeks time.
The firm paints their Botex forest machinery green, so that's why the colour. One of their suppliers wanted them to try a new metallic, so provided the paint for this one, for free.... Other is just a flat green. Great project for the kids, oh and me, no way are they getting all the fun!!!!
Only time I tried wind surfing was on Tiree, which I believe is a must go location for windsurfers. I even made it into the water after the on land lessons. Think I spent more time in the water than on the actual board
I like making things I like breaking things I like rallies I like drinking I like rock music That's me with Joanne Shaw Taylor
