    Ohlins eh? Best shocks in the world? I don't think so. This reflects very badly on them.

    Well I don't think the company can be criticised too heavily if they are replacing them on request.

    Mine have gone as well so I have sent an email to the dealer today. The outside of the black plastic thing doesn't look as bad as Bonzo's but the coating on the spring has worn through which means it will surely rust.

    I wasn't criticising Triumph but I think it is perfectly valid to criticise Ohlins. Look at the clearances between the coil spring and the shock body. Ohlins solution appears to be put a bit of plastic on the body to save the ally tube being marked.

    That's poor design in my book, especially from a "Premium" manufacturer.

    I question whether they're actually made by Ohlins or some far eastern company paying them to use the brand name....

    I wholeheartedly suspect you're right, but that only makes it worse. Claiming that your bike is fitted with Ohlins "top quality" suspenders only to find they are actually made by Lo Slung Ding Dan spring company, would piss you off big style, wouldn't it?

    Mine too are going to be replaced, once there is some stock available later this month.

    The warranty guy was a little skeptical about it on Saturday, but called today to say the replacement had been approved.

    What is difficult to comprehend is that numerous manufacturers have been designing and manufacturing shock absorbers and springs for decades.
    Very simple rules and common sense regarding the design and clearances of the moving parts.
    Change something, you check it out thoroughly on live testing not animated CAD models.
    The real world catches you out!

    Demands of business requires answers quickly and computer models give that, reducing costs and timescales......then as you say the real world gives a real answer. As a professional test engineer I have this frustration on a daily basis!

    Demands of customers requires quality, particularly when you are paying £16k for a bike.
    False economy in the long run as Toyota and several other of the car manufacturers are finding out.
    When I was an apprentice the older guys used to say "Tha only gets one thing by rushing lad, and that's bairns"

    I stand corrected Bonzo.
    I must be mistaking where Ive seen bikes that have been upgraded to £16k (or have I ???)
