As some of you know I've been doing up a 1989 Kawasaki GPX600R ready for swmbo when she does her tests this time in 2 weeks!

I've managed to get it running and idling and doing as it should, but I can't get the brake light to come on when using the front! Rear works fine, I've replaced the switch and still nothing. When I bridge the wires to complete the circuit I can hear a relay click, but still no light!

    Any ideas?

Are you sure there is a relay on the brake switch wiring diagram? If not, is it possible to locate said relay making the click to check colour codes on wiring to identify what this relay does. Does the front brake wire colour code appear at this relay? I'm thinking crossed wire of course, especially if project or rebuild started by somebody else. Sorry working blind as yer can see, had a quick look fer a free Kwacka diagram but couldn't find one. Relay on brake light circuit, mmm not sure about that but could be wrong, only just learn't how to switch toaster on..anybody else got the old girl wiring diagram?

Replace the wire leading from the lever. It has flexed a lot over the years and may be broke where you can not see it.

Nah they wanted money fer it lol.
Problem with that is it's going to the relay and making the relay click, so the wire seems to be working at that end.

    Got some pics too :)

Can anyone tell me what the thing attached to me fork is?

    IMG_0260.JPG IMG_0259.JPG

Picture above is what the relay plugs into. For reference brown/red and blue/red are both lives (ignition lives not battery lives), brown is earth and black/yellow goes into the loom. But roughly where it goes into the loom another wire the same colours come out and goes to that thing on the fork in pic 1.

The above pic shows the rear brake wires. When I put the blue/red from the previous pic to the blue on the left of this pic the brake light comes on, then when I use the switch the light goes out, so completely opposite of what I want!!!!! Lol

    The front brake switch :)

When you say `you use the switch and light goes out` do you mean when you depress the switch the light goes out, thats what it`s supposed to do . Depressing the switch breaks the circuit as on the front switch when you push the little button in it will turn light off, when you release it the light comes on. Hence when you pull front lever the part of lever covering the switch releases it the light comes on

Yup found that bit out last night!

Also found the problem. I found a plastic thing on the floor when I first stripped the engine, turns out this is the escs diode which the brake light cable runs through!

Only found it when I was creating a new loom for that circuit, plugged the diode in and the lights worked lol

    Yes I swore!!
