.....well, they say that the Devil looks after his own........today was pick up the Bobber day.... ......the roads were dry, the sun was shining, temps were nudging 20 C and I even managed to get legal insurance cover for the Bobber!......so he was clearly smiling on me today!...... ....and here he is, thank you Mrs dickydido......the bestest 61st birthday present ever.....(the second best was when she bought me a new saxaphone for my 35th)....... .....he's got 50 miles on the clock now.....so if I keep running him in at this rate .....50 miles per pint of ale......I gotta say it's a high consumption rate...........but I am up to the task and very willing for the 'Hard' miles ahead!...... Cheers, dickydido ....and one more piccy especially for Dozers Dad.... ......'cus I know you love the Bobbers arse end so much!!!....... ...(I went and visited my dads grave on the way home from the dealers.....well, he was a Triumph man, 1955 T100, sprung rear hub, luggage rack on the tank that they tied a cushion to, dad was driving, mum was on the pillion and me at 2 years old sat on the cushion, holding the bars between dads hands shouting faster dad, faster!......so I thought he"d enjoy having a squint at the new wheels!.........(believe me I am not religious, as Guy Martins grandad said, 'when you's dead, you's dead!)
Hi Rich Bryce, ......I think it was more of a 'hopster' beer than a hipster beer......don't hipsters swig fizzy lager, straight from the bottle, that is almost liquid nitrogen cold, with absolutely no taste?...........and that'll be £6.50 dude!....... .....from the eight beer pumps on the bar......yes, eight!......I selected a pint of 'Coaster', created and crafted by those geniuses at Sharpes Brewery, based down in Poldark land.....it was only 3.4 abv...... but admirably suitable for a mid afternoon inaugural bibble on my new bike......bloody £3.50 though........but it was in a posh Cotswold pub......check out 'The Wild Duck' in a village called Ewen..........they also do fabulous food.... On the contrary hipsters are well in to craft beer. ll joking aside, CAMRA say the popularity of craft beer real ale brought about by the young generation of 'hipsters' and 'hipster-wannabees' means the campaign is now turning to more specific issues. It's difficult to get a pint for less than £4 in the local hipster pub in Blackheath where #1 son resides. Keeps riff-raff like us at bay though. Next fine weekend I'm gonna get the lads over to Oakham brewery in the 'forgotten Cotswolds' aka Rutlandshire. Used to be the old Ruddles brewery before Green King (iirc) moved brewing out East, now run by one of their ex-brewers with a nice foodie restaurant too. Will check out Ewen sometime too (cheers, hic).
Round our way if yar a bit short of ackers the 99p beer in Tescos is a Banks Best Bitter session ale. It's well bostin.
Hi Tigcraft, .....about the same as a Thruxton R judging by all the comments that the suspensions too firm and the shocks and forks cannot be tweaked to be any softer!.......tee hee tee hee!....... ......seriously now, It has about 3 inches of movement front and back.....neither of which is adjustable......an alternative rear shock with adjustment is available.....no idea if it's any good but that'll be 650 quid to you sir!...... It copes with most of what is now termed of as roads.......to fully cope with today's road we all should be riding Factory spec Dakar bikes with about a foot of travel front and back..... ....too vicious a bump or holes will bottom the suspension as you'd expect but the handling never gets too wayward.....for the limited distance that I have rode it and for the style of bike it is emulating, I think it handles welll.........I find the seat really comfortable........just imagine what a fully rigid rear end would be like out on our current roads and with the performance potential of a Bobber......it'd be like straddling a pneumatic drill, at full bore, drilling solid granite!............... Hi Scoot65, .....that is exactly as it rolled out of the showroom door.....completely standard with the exception of the Factory heated grips......so I gotta guess they are standard issue......only 50 miles into the first 500 so 'my' bike has not been 'given the whip' .....yet!.... .....on the other hand, the dealers demo Bobber was well and truly whipped, it was agile and very manoeuvrable, it runs out of lean angle before it runs out of tyres........Oh!......it also goes like stink and makes a glorious sound while it's at it...... Even if you never intend to buy a Bobber, go try a demo somewhere, give it some stick......you WILL come back with a smile on your face..... Cheers, dickydido

Your right about the Dakar being the tools for our roads and as for the rear shock, now that does come as a 'shock'!! I was just curious to the posture of the riding position being comfy as anything cruiser for me is a cripler if it's legs forward.
Hi Tigcraft, ....personally, no comfort problems.....I'm 5' 11''....15 and a half stone....34'' inside leg..... .....just go try one yourself.....no need to buy, just enjoy......given its head it's a right hooligan yet in the next breath it can plod around just enjoying the views.
