Shoei GT-air

Agree with your missus Have full face and open face HJC helmets both are good snug fit and have tinted visors ,do get a bit of wind noise ,bought a set of mercury filter plugs today at Edinburgh show hopefully these will compensate (just wouldn't give the money for shoei.)

 

As it happens, due to my off earlier this week i am looking for a new hat and my eyes are pointing at the Shark Spartan Carbon at £350, VERY light, interior sun visor, full visor pin lock and some new technology with the fins for stability.
They have some pretty sharp designs too
Maybe a worthy alternative?

 

I've had Aria and Shoei in the past and like them both,current one is the Shoei Gt air, i bought it for the internal visor,great helmet but the visor is a disappointment, if your used to wearing a dark visor just don't expect it to block out the sun near as good as a dark visor

 

I have a Schuberth C3 Pro, and recently bought an Arai Tour X4. Which made me realise just how good the Schuberth is.

The Schuberth is very comfortable, has integrated (and excellent) sunscreen, pinlock. And now has integrated comms options too. And about the same price as those mentioned above.

 

Had a few Arai's and Shoei's over the years.
Main helmet now is a Shoei NXR, had it about 12 months.
I had a fitting at the Shoei stand at the 2015 nec bike show and needed different liner and cheek pads to get the correct fit, all included in the price from the Sportsbikeshop
When I was looking for a new helmet I looked at the Shoei GT air but one of the helmets had a faulty sliding mechanism, so that turned me off that model.

 

I have heard that Arai won't do an internal visor or flip front helmet is because it compromises the shell integrity and weakens it.
Either way, I stick to Arai having fully tested one a few years back.

 

Sorry to arrive late on this discussion.....Yes, I have a GT air....Very pleased with it. Shoei have changed the shape of their helmets in recent years as I always had a Arai head....Shoei helmets always left half of my chin hanging out of the bottom of the helmet. I tried Arai Chaser my preferred choice of lid, but it just wouldnt fit right....the GT air fitted spot on from the beginning & has always remained comfortable too. My only quip is that the visor mists up in the bottom corners despite using an anti-mist product, but apart from that very small issue,it really is a good helmet.

 

Had my Gt Air journey for three years now, Its a good lid, excellent ventilation, lining comes out easy to wash.
Not as quite as the dealer made out, but not bad, very comfy.
Bounces well too!!!

I'm also looking for a new lid. Like the looks of the xr1100, and they're knocking around the 200 quid mark too!
Do any of you rate the Sharpe helmet safety guide? Price doesn't always mean the safest in my tiny mind!
Oh and don't get an agv. They suck. Squeaky as hell after two months, does me nut in!

 

I also have a GT Air and very happy with it. Mine somtimes mists up at the top in the middle which is a nusiance though.

Was tempted to get a new helmet at the London Excel show, but spent my money on other items in the end.

Liked the look and feel of the GT Air, I normally have Arai, but am tempted by the internal visor.
Most stands were £250 for the more plain, and £300 for the black/union flag and others.
So if there is a show nearby, it may be worth a visit.

 

It's my first helmet with an internal visor and it has made life so much easier. I wouldn't be without one now.

 

is it a blue one your'e looking for? just had a look at the sizes available on the web site and they have up to XL in the other colours,my pal was going to buy one yesterday when we were in and he is a XL but by the time he bought a jacket and trousers he was skint!

EDIT there is a red/white/blue one in XL?

 

I've got a scala Q3...Good bit of kit... Bike rides are so much more fun when you can chat with ya chums on the move.....No more gestering hand signals you need fuel or a pi*s

 

I own the Shoei GT Air and like the fit even though I previously used the Arai Corsair. My only negative so far is that it gets hot as hell here in the desert. Likely not a concern over your way though. The Corsair stayed relatively cool whereas this GT Air I am often riding with the shield cracked open if in traffic.

 

What's also funny is the look on car drivers faces when you both do a synchronized move together like turning off or both overtake...out in Spain last year motorists must of thought I had a death wish some of the almost blind moves I pulled off, but my mate was already 200 yds in front of me & could relay if the road was good for a blind overtake

 

it would certainly be handy for that! i have the Qz i think you call it i cant talk to anyone which is a blessing as sometimes my wife is on the back!! just use it for listening to the sat nav
