The best bit of advice to anyone contemplating about buying a Tiger 800 is that I took my Thruxton in for its service and was given a Tiger 800XR for the day while my Thruxton was being serviced I just had to have one, after riding it for a day I could not give it back .It is one brilliant bike.I now own one and would not be without it!I have been all over Europe with it:)

Tiger 800 does seem to get great reports, how do you find it with a pillion?

Lovee my XRx. Had I not bought the Street Twin first I would have been perfectly happy with the Tiger as my only bike. It loves the twisty country lanes just as well as eating up the miles on those A roads with ease.

Has far has what it is like with a pillion I do not have a clue I thought the idea was to have a nice relaxing motorcycle trip ,not getting nagged from the passenger seat all the way there and back.I am lucky my wife hates bikes with a passion and refuses to travel on the back I brought the wife her own car and she is happy to go to all the dog shows leaving me all alone Bliss

A couple of us Tiger 800 owners were chatting to a lad at our MC last night. He's giving his Bandit to his missus and as the Tiger top of his buy list for himself. He's thinking of a 1050 cos of her riding pillion on long trips. I would have the thought the 800 is perfectly capable unless you're a couple of real lardarses, and they aren't.

We're going to accompany him round a few of the local Triumph dealers next week or so (any excuse for a ride out and bike b0ll0x talk) where he'll take out demos for a spin before settling on a second hand 800/1050.

Just recently sold a new 1050 tiger sport and now have a 800,the 1050 is the one for 2 up work, the 800 is very lacking 2 up or with luggage, strictly a solo bike, the 1050 has a really annoying hump at the front of the pillion part of the seat to stop them sliding forward unfortunately this makes it uncomfortable,my mrs hated it,but as my number 1 bike is great 2 up it's not a problem that you may have i'm afraid.

Not really taken the mrs out on my 800 much. When we did go out she did mention the amount of wind buffeting tho. We are hoping to do a long weekend somewhere this summer but how she thinks she's going to get all her makeup on the bike I don't know!

Ditto. I tested a Tiger demonstrator whilst the Street Cup was in for service, and that was me hooked. It had to be done and now I have a Tiger 800 XCA. Loving it too.

It's a lot more unwieldy at low speed, but fabulous once it's going.

You're not wrong there. Jill is an extremely forthright and assertive Scouser with an amazing lung capacity once she starts talking (aka moaning). It can be quite frightening.

Hrhr, I apparently got the Bavarian counter part!

Mind, plenty of space for her generously proportioned behind on my Tiger 1050 ;)
