My grandma was based at Scampton and assigned to 617 Dambusters during WWII. She and her ladies worked on supplies for them. After the war they even took her on a flight over the dams to show her what she had been a part of. As part of the ATC I was able to get inside one. I couldn't imagine what it was like to fly in one, let alone over Germany at night with flak everywhere. The greatest generation on so many levels.
My family is still in the area, brother lives/works in Lincoln. He was telling me that they're looking at setting it up for immigrants?!
Bloody disgusting, an absolute slap in the face to all the airman that flew out from Scampton. This government thinks more of immigrants that have no right to be here, than it does for our history of people who had more guts and honour than any politician will ever hope to get. It's the same in the US too I know. These governments are sowing the seeds for civil unrest, Poland is the only country with the balls to not accept them in the first place
